NEWS OF EXISTING VEHICLES.
You last saw this 1958 'W' type in this year's Spring issue. Having been cared for by Ted Hoole in Sheffield for the past 33 years the former Ketton R.D.C. vehicle has found a new home in Ayrshire with Michael Cooper.

Now resplendent in a maroon livery and fitted with a Derby type body the lovely old SD has already been rallied. It's really good news that this vehicle will continue to be shown.
The 1976 Shelvoke Carmichael fire tender pictured below has been owned by Spencer Townson from Bradford since December 2007. Originally in service with Hereford & Worcester Fire Brigade RAB 498 P spent its last years at Eggborough Power Station in Yorkshire.

Due to other commitments Spencer has had to dispose of the vehicle. At the end of April the 34 year old Shelvoke started a new life as the fire tender at the Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire. There it replaces another Shelvoke VWR 818 X whose main pump has failed. My thanks to Chris Tunstall who spotted the vehicle on a low loader on the M1 being delivered to Northamptonshire.
TWO MORE FROM THE INTERNET.
In existence? Go to:- http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?437-Scrap-yard-relics.../page63 and scroll down the page until you find the SD badge.
Well - just! The SD badge survives on the radiator cover of this ancient vehicle. It was photographed in a scrapyard in the North East last winter. A restoration project for someone?
The another :- http://ccmv.fotopic.net/p64035107.html
Believe it or not this beavertail Reg. No. ANO169X is an ex-Essex Shelvoke SPV turntable ladder. It was seen and photographed by Les Simpson at the CVC day in Malvern on March 27th 2010.
There are some fine SD photos on this page also.
EDENBRIDGE 2010.
Due to the efforts of Charlie Lemon and the goodwill of their owners four SD's were on parade at Edenbridge over the weekend of June 19th & 20th. The Southern Counties Historic Preservation Trust's ex-Epsom & Ewell Freighter was joined by the replica Tramocar from the Amberley Museum. The two Jones's brought their vehicles - David from Hitchin his TBN and Steve from the Isle of Wight his PN Revopak. It's good that the public are reminded of Shelvoke & Drewry by these splendid survivors. Our thanks to their owners for all their hard work.
WIKIPEDIA.
In the August 2010 issue of Vintage Roadscene Magazine (see also page6) the Editor, Alistair Golding wrote: "It would be great if somebody were to undertake the research to give us a definitive list of preserved vehicles." It seemed to me that this could be achieved on the Internet based on individual manufacturers. Obviously S&D is a relatively easy list to compile. I've been working on a list which is now available on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Preserved_Shelvoke_and_Drewry_Vehicles This list can be edited by anyone so, in particular, owners could keep it up to date.
Wikipedia have strict policies regarding photographs and anyone who has their own photos of any of the vehicles where I've not been able to supply photos would be most welcome to post them on this page.
